The choice of which kind of Shar.pei we want it  is really subjective. The Shar-pei, like other breeds, has its weak points, particularly with regard to its feeding.  But a good breeder will explain you how to proceed in case of problems.

Before you buy a Shar-pei  dog, inform you about the breed. Read the breed standard, inform you about its nature, health’s problems and how to take care of it, and so on . . . A good breeder does not have to breed subjects which have too much wrinkles. Adult Shar Pei tends to retain wrinkle on the forehead, neck, shoulders and rump. Some adult Shar Pei have more wrinkles than others, and usually the horse coat Shar Pei has fewer wrinkles than the brush coat Shar Pei as an adult. The adult Shar-pei has to be mildly wrinkled. To be a good Shar-pei, it must not have wrinkles on hocks or crump. Usually, when in a litter you have both of the types, the buyer will pick the horse coat one because it has more wrinkles and so it is more eye-catching. On the contrary, it is useful to explain that when the Shar-pei becomes adult the horse coat is more slender then the brush coat so it will be less eye-catching. It will also be good to consider the so-called “Shar-pei problem”. We are talking about a sort of reaction to the slight pricks of the horse coat’s hair on the human skin. These hair pricks are often mistaken for allergy. The sensation of little “pricks” disappears within a few minutes; anyway it is not advisable to choose a horse coat to someone who has sensitive skin. The “brush coat” is a dog with more bone, more muzzle and a very calm character.

Be patient and weighed well your choices! Maybe we’ll have to wait a couple of months (or more) to find the right type of shar-pei for you but once the choice is made of puppy that the breeder will not regret it.

Also remember that every dog breed has its own history, his past, his writings on the origins PEDIGREE (identity card) and that without this document are not doing the deal of your life, but instead are buying a puppy no warranty and origin. BEWARE OF WHO SELLS UNDERCOSTS AND WITHOUT DOCUMENTS  because the bastard mestizos do not sell,  offer you free ! There’s nothing wrong to have a SHAR.PEI  “good quality” !!!

Un buon allevatore spiegherà all’acquirente come comportarsi nelle possibili patologie.
